HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE ASBESTOS
IN YOUR BUSINESS OR HOUSE?
Asbestos was an extremely common building material used in the mid-1980s. However, when it was found that asbestos is a carcinogen and can trigger health risks, particularly for lung cancer, it was discontinued as a building material and homes that were built at the time when asbestos was commonly used are required to be tested prior to any real estate transaction involving the property.
The asbestos mineral comes in form of micro abrasive fibers that are easily inhaled. As they are inhaled, these abrasive fibers can cause damage to the interior of the lungs. This damage can pose a significant risk to one’s health but it is particularly dangerous for those who smoke or who are suffering from other health problems. The damage to the lungs can often lead to diseases like mesothelioma and lung cancer. Most Americans spend approximately a third of each day inside their homes. This is an average of 8 hours and when people breathe in this toxic substance for that period of time, it could pose a serious danger to their health. That exposure to a dangerous carcinogen can be potentially life-threatening.
GreenWorks offers asbestos testing, consulting, air monitoring or management plans for anyone who is buying, selling or remodeling a home or commercial building.

Our in-house client service coordinator team is going to gather some initial information to recommend the best service for you.
Visual identification is not enough to determine the presence of asbestos-containing materials (ACM). Most likely, you will need an asbestos survey (aka asbestos inspection or asbestos testing).
The purpose of the asbestos survey:
Identify suspect ACM homogenous areas
areas of suspected material uniform in color and texture
Collect and analyze suspect ACM
Evaluate the hazard level posed by the ACM
Choosing an asbestos consultant for your renovation or abatement project could be as simple as a quick Google search. But it’s important to do a little due diligence before making the decision. GreenWorks is a Texas Licensed Asbestos Consulting Agency and can provided several essential services to help ensure your home or building are safe from asbestos-containing materials (ACM). A licensed asbestos contractor should perform the abatement work, while GreenWorks asbestos consultant helps to ensure the work is done correctly, in compliance with plans and specifications, and in compliance with OSHA and EPA standards. Our asbestos consultant can draw up your required project specifications and then oversee the process of abatement.
Download the Consumer Mold Information Sheet
Licensed mold assessors and remediators are required to provide a copy of the Consumer Mold Information Sheet to each client and to the property owner, if not the same person, before any mold-related activity begins. This requirement does not apply to mold analysis laboratories or training providers.
Unlicensed Mold Remediators cannot sign a CMDR, so be careful of the mold remediator you hire.
In the State of Texas, the Mold Inspection Company and the Mold Remediation Company have to be separate entities to protect conflict of interest. GreenWorks does not provide remediation services so it can look out for your peace of mind. If you need help finding a quality Texas licensed mold remediation company, contact us today.
